Doubutsu No Mori Translation Patch
There is no doubt in my mind that you wont fix this soon. Hi, I just wanted to add a bit to this. The author of the translation project posted the latest translation patch here: You'll need your own, unedited ROM for it. An unpatched ROM works fine with the gles2n64 plugin. Textures all load, game runs smooth, etc. However, it's inconvenient for those of us who don't speak Japanese haha.
R changes the game speed rather than displaying something on-screen. In the item screen, C-Down gives you one net, axe, shovel, and fishing rod; C-Left increases your money by 1,000 Bells; and C-Right fills your pocket with bags of 30,000 Bells. Controller 2 also has two-button combinations, all of which involve holding L, R, or Start. All but one of the possible combinations opens memory editors of some kind (the exception being holding R and pressing Down on the D-Pad, which pauses and unpauses the game). Memory editors can be opened by holding one of the three buttons mentioned earlier, and pressing another button twice. For example, holding L and tilting the C-Stick left twice opens the 'S(SREG)' editor.
When not preceeded by a colon, minutes and seconds return their normal value, ie. 2 • Months and both kinds of days are now textual, ie. Tuesday, September 3rd • Date on message board is in USA order (MM/DD/YYYY) • Fixed cursor and END block positioning: • Message Board • Gyroid Message • Writting Mail • Fixed order of default superscript and postscript on mail messages. (As stupid as my text is) • Switches to fixed-width mode when SP character used on name-entry pages. • Added in support for new 7F commands; non-commands will probably be skipped over (big maybe here) • 7F70 added: forces next recalled string to be CAPITALIZED • 7F74 ported from AC: forces next recalled string to have a capitalized first letter, rest lowercase (Sentence Case) • 7F75 ported from AC: forces next recalled string lower case • 7F76 ported from AC: inserts either am or pm depending on time of day There might be some other smaller fixes not listed either. Like before, the script loaded into the patch is the direct AC copy, mostly to prove the point that all this stuff can and (pending the horrible script errors) does function as such. It has been slightly editted to, for instance, split entries that were too large and would hang (message line>0x400).

In addition, not only does Dōbutsu no Mori e+ have to be saved with a memory card that does not already contain saved data from a different localized game, but it requires much more space to save. There isn't even a translation project going on, sadly. Since this game isn't too hard or complex to read, a person who knows a bit of Japanese (equivalent to the average 8-year-old) would probably be able to translate this game. Of course, then he or she would also have to learn to hex edit properly. A lot of work goes into such things.
The old, partially translated ROM also behaves the same way, but is also mostly in Japanese. The latest patch will not load with the gles2n64 plugin at all. Simply a black screen and return to the main menu. It will run with the gles2rice plugin, though. However, it has a ton of problems loading textures (mostly 2D textures), so the game is unplayable as you can't see a lot things.

• There are 60 brand new neighbors featured in the E-Reader cards in Dōbutsu no Mori e+, and it is possible to choose which neighbors the player wants to move in to their town by collecting their E-Reader card and then swiping them. They can also make their neighbors perform a few more actions than usual if they become good friends with them, such as waving to them when they see them. This is not available in Animal Crossing because the E-Reader cards only cause the character on the card to send the player a letter with a gift, and further give them another gift through a written password on the back of the card. The added friendship actions the player's neighbors will perform are not seen until. • The player can eavesdrop on conversations held between two neighbors in Dōbutsu no Mori e+. The neighbors in Animal Crossing talk only for a split second, preventing the player from doing the same.

I've used the English patch once before, but it wasn't all translated, and I found it awkward to have some stuff English, some not, so I simply went with the original version. As far as playing on the Pandora goes.I used just about all of the default plugins, without changing the config at all, and the menu is indeed messed up in all of them. One of them I used (I can't recall which one, sorry.) did actually show the items and the cursor, they just looked glitchy, and worse yet, when using that plugin, the framerate drops dramatically, although you might be able to get away with it if you overclock on a 1GHz Pandora. What I did though, was simply memorize the names, and locations of my items, while keeping in mind the size of my inventory being a 5x3 square.

So I just recently got a ROM of Doubutsu no Mori e+ and just now finished the part-time job. Has anyone else played Doubutsu no Mori e+? It's basically the GameCube Animal Crossing game but with more features. Sadly, it was never localized, so people who aren't spiffy in Japanese will have trouble playing this game.
