Be sure you get the 4401 version of the program as it provides engineering level access. I have also been looking a Web site because a number the carts use Curtis power controllers and it is my understanding that the 1314 software is used in that application.
Is that ok with the programming process, or should I remove it? (I tried with & without). Bewitched tv serial in hindi. I know for a fact you can have a 840, I have one running with a 840 and a 1314 programmer as well as a 1311 - Can be the Curtis controller set up as non-programmable? Is it possible or controller is programmed (using VCL) to avoid programming? Yes, in VCL you can actually assign access levels. - I have seen captures of users sending commands in the terminal. My terminals are full of controller output text (RPM - RPM - RPM.).

Hello; I have been reading the forum up and down looking for any clue about my connection problem. As I didn't find anything I am opening this thread (well, I found lots of hints about connection problems and tried many of them, but it seems my problem is somewhat different). I got a Curtis 1236, used.
I'd rather be spending my time making steering knuckles on the lathe than fighting with Win98 etc. Junior Member Registered: Posts: 4 Posted Hi guys, nice project here. The way to buid a proper cable is have an usb-serial ttl converter and invert the rx and txd wires. Or use a max232 chip to make ttl signals form the good old derial port on your PC. I made my cabe using a 7404 hex inverter, it turned out Curtis used a hex inverting schmitt trigger 7414, but the 7404 worked fine. I never had the cance to look at an original interface, I just bluit my own afted measuring signals form the programming/display port.
Member Registered: Posts: 96 Posted Edited it is a normal rs-232 serial interface. Just the 3 wires to connect, but some other wires have to be shorted at the PC end.
It is the ideal companion to the Model 1311 Handheld Programmer for the OEM manufacturing site, dealer service centres and the more advanced users.
I will, when I have time, build myself an opto-isolated serial cable that reverses the logic levels. Should not be hard. I'll just dead-bug the wiring to a DIP and pot the thing in hot glue. Then, I'll attempt to get the programming software up and running on a laptop. The first target will be a very old ThinkPad, running Win98, that has an actual serial port. Failing that, I've got an XP laptop that I can try using a usb-serial adaptor.
I have tried 4 differente USB/Serial adapters, some will show the terminal output correctly, others will not. I even tried with an old win98 PC, but the programming software still refuses to connect (terminal work though). Using an oscilloscope I have checked some bits are sent in the TX wire, but still conection is not established. I did also read about entering commands in the terminal, using ':'. But it does not seem to work; sometimes the output of 'RPM x' info will stop for a moment but will resume activity soon. Some questions for the experts: - I have a 840 display installed, it shares the bus with the programmer cable.
Maybe there is a 'program mode' or something similar I have overlooked? Hope somebody can offer a clue. Thanks for replying, I am using 1314-4401 'downloadable version'. I think I remember v3.12 build 35 patch 6..

This works only with user settings, it needs a small adition to the registry to use OEM. You do not need to programm the complete datablock into the chip. Just VID and PID is enoug.

Hi guys I'm new on here and realise this might be an old issue but I'm looking for some help. I've got a axiom mega EV, with curtis controller.

No shortage of old junk I can waste time trying to make work. Hopefully, once I can talk to the controller, I'll figure out what exactly is wrong. Theoretically, I should not need to reprogram anything but, seeing as how I have to make the connection, I might make an attempt at replacing the rocker throttle with some console racing pedals I have. Might be easier than the original plan of setting up a mechanical linkage from pedals to rocker. Just annoying that it's gone from a quick to more involved project. Lots of other things to do too.
I complained to the seller he told me not to expext a proper chip on ebay. You might find these will not work. But offcource you could always use onle like this and invert RX and TX lines using a 7414 or 4704. (only with v3 software).

I have a problem with the undervoltage limitation of the curtis. 68% of the voltage are still too much and I would like to adjust even less. Less than 68% can not be adjusted. Is it possible to program the Curtis with 36V operating voltage but to operate it with 48V so that I can discharge the batteries deeper? Thanks in advance for your help Greeting from Vienna Chris. The controller seems to work, it will accelerate the motor (the encoder settings are probably wrong, but it works anyway). But the programmer software still refuses to connect. Like this cable. TTL-232R-5V-WE Attach the desired connecotor (molex 12V P4 ATX) to the 3 wires (GND, RX and TX). The 15V/5V wire/pin is NOT to be connected. Download the FTprog tool and program the RX and TX datalines to invert. This should work with the older software. (find the comport number in windows devicemanager) If you also use FT-prog to change VID to 1fa1 and PID to 00c8 than the newer software can be used.
Hello; I have been reading the forum up and down looking for any clue about my connection problem. As I didn't find anything I am opening this thread (well, I found lots of hints about connection problems and tried many of them, but it seems my problem is somewhat different). I got a Curtis 1236, used. I don't know much about it's previous settings or use conditions. I tried connecting to it without motor, throttle.Terminal software (putty & dacio) showed error codes (scode x) signaling the parts that were missing, like the motor. Curtis software 1314, however, refused connection: 'Error 0023 Initialization of communication interface failed.
The way to go these days is programming a FT232RL chip. You can program these to invert rx and txd lines. If you program the right VID and PID you can even use it with the latest software. Buggies gone wild forum has a nice tread on that. Check that out!
Out of interest what error was the controller showing and could you fix it? Near as I can tell, it's a 3-1, or throttle wiring. All the wiring checks out, so the project just got bigger. Time to have a conversation with the controller itself.
